Myths About Travel Assignments

Myth: As a traveler, I might not be treated well by the permanent staff
Truth: The fact is that many facilities are short-staffed and the staff employees are overwhelmed. They are gracious for any assistance that can alleviate them of their numerous responsibilities. Working for our agency will ensure that you receive the treatment that you deserve. We are available 24 hours a day to assist you with any obstacles you may face.

Myth: I would have to move every three months to get a different assignment.
Truth: Assignments are typically 13 weeks in duration. That does not mean that you cannot extend your stay at some assignments. Travelers have stayed years in assignments of their choice.

Myth:  I may get stuck in an assignment that I did not choose.
Truth: You are in complete control of where you go. Your requirements will be noted, and your recruiting manager will match those requirements with our current openings. Then, it is up to you to decide whether or not you would like to interview with certain facilities.


Myth:
It would have been a good opportunity in the beginning of my career, but not now.
Truth: Many travelers who have been in this field for decades, say that their experience has given them confidence to travel to different facilities. Older travelers enjoy traveling with their retired spouses, while still working and receiving the benefits of this profession.

Myth: The movement from assignment to assignment will not be a positive addition to my resume.
Truth: Travelers are a very well respected among the healthcare community. They demonstrate the ability to adapt to many different environments, display strong dedication to their profession, and they develop new skills with each assignment. These employee traits are strongly desired by any healthcare facility. 

Myth: I will have to move far away from my home to be a traveler.
Truth: The distance from your home does play a factor in some cases, but that does not prevent some travelers from working close to where they live.

 


How do I get started?

  1. You fill out our online application and skills checklist or contact one of our staff members:  This provides us with the basic information to start searching for that perfect travel assignment.  This is NOT a contract and WILL NOT obligate you to anything.

  2. A Trusted Nurse Staffing Recruiting Manager will contact you within 24 hours of your application:  Our Recruiting Managers are trained to listen and analyze your work history, experience, and all other factors that are important to you in order to develop the ideal employee package.  We are always willing to answer any questions you may have throughout the process.

  3. We will present you with a list of possible assignments:  After we have determined where in the country you are interested in traveling, we will put together a portfolio of options that we can discuss together. 

  4. Submit your information to a facility and set up an interview:  With your approval, we will send over your profile to the facility of your choice and request a phone interview which is typically conducted by a manager or supervisor.  Feel free to discuss the interview process with your Recruiting Manager to get helpful tips.

  5. Confirmation of your travel assignment:  Upon the successful completion of your interview, the manager or supervisor will extend an offer for your services.  We will review the offer as well as the accompanying pay package with you. If you decide to accept, we will confirm your start date and make arrangements for you to begin the assignment.

  6. Collect necessary pre-hire paperwork and facility compliance: After we confirm your assignment, a compliance associate from our company will work with you to obtain the pre-hire documents and any information that the facility requires prior to employment.

  7. You begin your assignment with Trusted Nurse Staffing:  Your Recruiting Manager will have walked you through every step of this process.  We will have located housing accommodations, made travel arrangements and given you your first day instructions, but the relationship doesn’t end there.  We are available as a resource to you throughout your assignment...so, don't hesitate to call  HAVE FUN!!!
