Why Should You Consider Becoming a Travel Nurse in Illinois?
A travel nurse assignment in Illinois will place you in one of the most underrated states in the U.S. If you’ve been wanting to find a position in a new location in travel nursing, Illinois is worth a second look.
Illinois is home to many of these American icons:
- Chicago deep-dish pizza
- Route 66 origin
- Athletes like Michael Jordan, Chris Chelios, and Walter Payton
- The ice cream sundae
- The beginning of the Lewis and Clark Expedition
- Chicago, where the term “Jazz” was coined in the early 1900s
- Twinkies, invented in River Forest, Illinois
- The 13th amendment to abolish slavery, first ratified in Illinois in 1865
Illinois is 80% farmland, with Chicago being the most populous city in the Midwest and the third-largest city in the United States. Lining Lake Michigan gives Illinois residents access to about 26 miles of beachfront, where the only salt you’ll get is the salt lining a margarita glass.
If you crave the music scene, there is always a music festival somewhere. You can find anything that suits your fancy from jazz to blues and country to rock.
The winters can be brutal in the northern edge of the state, which can be challenging if you aren’t used to cold winters. If you’re comfortable with bundling up and embracing hygge, take the plunge in the icy wind for a new adventure. Traffic in Chicago is one of the worst in the country. Consider public transit within the city and use your vehicle to take adventures around the rest of the state.
On the other side, if you don’t fully appreciate the history of Twinkies, Chicago is a smorgasbord of good food. If the pros outweigh the cons of taking an assignment in Chicago, travel nursing in Chicago, Illinois, may be for you.
