Mississippi Licensure Information and Requirements
For the latest up-to-date information on licensure requirements and fees, visit the Mississippi Board of Nursing website or contact the Mississippi Board of Nursing licensing division at (601) 957-6300.
Licensure Requirements
If you hold a multi-state nursing license, you’re in luck because Mississippi is a compact state. But, if you hold a nursing license in a state outside the NLC, you can still apply for Mississippi licensure by endorsement.
To receive licensure by endorsement, you’ll need to:
- Have a valid United States social security number.
- Complete the online application.
- Provide your official transcript of graduation from an approved or accredited RN nursing program.
- Pay the application fee of $100.
- Pass a criminal background check. After submitting the endorsement application, you will be able to register for your CBC (criminal background check). You can select either to schedule an appointment to have fingerprinting done at our office, or you may request to have a fingerprint card mailed to you. Please contact our office to speak with the CBC department for additional information.
- Submit the verification of licensure by endorsement form. Verification must be submitted from the location of the first licensing. You must also submit verification from your current location, if different from your initial licensure location. Mississippi permits licensure verification through Nursys®. If your original Board does not participate in Nursys® verifications, you will need to contact your state’s Board of Nursing to inquire how to request the verification.
- Submit evidence of continuing basic nursing competencies outlined below.
The Mississippi board of nursing may grant a nonrenewable, temporary license that is valid for 90 days. The applicant must submit an application for a temporary permit, along with a fee of $25.00.
But, don’t let these requirements overwhelm you! The team at Trusted Nurse Staffing can guide you through every step of the process. And the good news? We reimburse you for all out-of-state licensing fees.
